Permaculture project

We have begun the process of 'greening' the school, integrating a permaculture model to guarantee the ecological sustainability of our work.

This process involves cleaning the compound of non biodegradable waste; invigorating the soils with local compost; planting edible trees and nutritious herbs and vegetables; and making these activities part of the school curriculum.

The aims are:

  1. to have a productive garden that helps to support the school feeding programme
  2. setup a system were we create zero waste, and raise awareness about climate change in the area
  3. integrate ecological methods into the daily life of our students

We were very happy with the work to date, we have hired a new a new teacher and permaculture designer for the school named Michael Gibba.
