Permaculture project
We have begun the process of 'greening' the school, integrating a permaculture model to guarantee the ecological sustainability of our work.
This process involves cleaning the compound of non biodegradable waste; invigorating the soils with local compost; planting edible trees and nutritious herbs and vegetables; and making these activities part of the school curriculum.
The aims are:
- to have a productive garden that helps to support the school feeding programme
- setup a system were we create zero waste, and raise awareness about climate change in the area
- integrate ecological methods into the daily life of our students
We were very happy with the work to date, we have hired a new a new teacher and permaculture designer for the school named Michael Gibba.
